Ask your elementary student about.....Spring Math!
Spring Math is an evidence-based program designed to help students strengthen their math skills through daily practice and teacher-guided instruction. It provides targeted intervention and support to ensure all students master foundational math concepts.
What Does Your Child Do in Spring Math?
✅ Daily Practice – Students complete quick, structured math activities that build fluency and accuracy.
✅ Peer & Teacher Support – Students often work in pairs or small groups, receiving feedback from teachers and classmates.
✅ Personalized Learning – The program identifies skill gaps and provides lessons tailored to each student's needs.
✅ Goal Setting & Progress Tracking – Students set goals, track their progress, and celebrate improvements in their math skills.
Spring Math helps build confidence, fosters a growth mindset, and ensures that students develop strong problem-solving abilities. With daily participation, students see measurable improvement in their math performance each day.

Our Valley-Edinburg River Watch team is conducting a survey in our local community on recreation (activity done for enjoyment - usually in nature). We would like to know how people in our area enjoy outdoor recreation time in the local water shed. Please consider taking a few minutes to complete this survey for our students! The past 2 weeks the 4th graders have been working on an inventor project - they were given a list of inventors and got to choose which one they would like to do research on. They took notes and conducted research on their inventor, their accomplishments, and their life.
Once they were done conducting all their research, they wrote about the inventor and then got to have the inventor come to life!

This morning, our students in grades 4-6 participated in an engaging and informative presentation with representatives from DVAC (Domestic Violence and Abuse Center). The sessions focused on important topics as part of the Friendlets Workshop, including:
✅ Healthy and Unhealthy Friendships
✅ Setting and Respecting Boundaries
✅ How to Help a Friend
Through these discussions, students gained valuable insights into building positive relationships, recognizing red flags in friendships, and supporting their peers in safe and appropriate ways. These conversations are an essential part of fostering a supportive and respectful school. We encourage you to continue these discussions at home! If you have any questions or would like resources to extend these conversations, please feel free to reach out.

Our Family and Consumer Sciences students have had another educational quarter. They have completed several sewing projects, catered basketball concessions and cookies for a Christmas party decorating contest and community meetings, learned to make foods ranging from Swedish meatballs to custard pies, and sugar experiments including taffy in the Food Science class. When working with fabric, food and their associated tools students are learning to plan and execute a project from start to finish, which encourages time management and perseverance. The process of sewing and some cooking techniques can also improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Furthermore, these tasks foster creativity and self-expression, as students customize their projects and experiment with different designs or foods. Ultimately, these skills are transferable to many areas of life, helping with everything from everyday repairs or meal preparation to a deeper understanding of craftsmanship and resourcefulness. Recent studies have highlighted skill needs in careers such as sewing clothing for space travel at NASA facilities or by surgeons when suturing!
